Research Focus:

• Exploring and imaging the structure of the crust and upper mantle
• Unravelling the tectonic history of the North American continent
• Improving our understanding of the tectonic processes that control the evolution of the lithosphere
• Developing new techniques to image:
  1. lithospheric structure and
  2. upper crustal kimberlite dykes (with applications in diamond exploration and mining)

• Lithospheric structure and tectonic history based primarily on seismic refraction, seismic reflection, potential field data, and structural geologic analysis:

• NW Canadian Cordillera (BC, YK): SNORCLE Refraction and Reflection Line 22 [Hammer, Clowes]
• NW Canadian Cordillera (BC, YK): 3D wide-angle imaging of the Tintina Fault, SNORCLE Refraction and Reflection Lines 21, 22, 31 [Ellis]
• Trans-Hudson Orogen Transect (SK, MN) [Roy, Clowes]
• Upper crustal structure in southwestern Alberta using an industry-acquired 3-D seismic reflection dataset [Welford, Clowes]
