This fragment is about 5 cm across. Although it may not technically be classified as a pelltal lapilli, it roughly illustrates the same point. Of interest here is the dark green halo around the fragment. These halos contain fine grained minerals from kimberlite magmas. The presence of these halos around crystals and fragments is a sure sign that you are NOT dealing with hypabyssal facies kimberlite.
