Welcome to Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, one of the largest and most diverse departments of its kind in the world. Our research and teaching interests span the history of the Earth and the evolution of its structure from core to stratosphere.
The scope of EOAS-UBC is illustrated in the figure below. Research, teaching and learning is done in the two principle areas of the Earth Sciences:
We offer undergraduate programs and research opportunities for graduate students that encompass all the major Earth Science disciplines, including geophysics, geological science, geological engineering, oceanography and atmospheric science. Dedicated staff provide the support for strong, well-supported research and teaching activities.
Every year our faculty members obtain millions of dollars to support research projects in the laboratory, at the computer and in the field. We are particularly proud of our close research relationships with industry and government.
