I am Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Departments of Mathematics and Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of British Columbia with Eldad Haber. I received my Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Münster, Germany, for the thesis "Hyperelastic Image Registration - Theory, Numerical Methods, and Applications" supervised by Martin Burger and Jan Modersitzki.
I joined Eldad Haber's group at EOS as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in January 2013. Before, I was employed as Research Assistant at the Institute of Mathematics and Image Computing at the University of Lübeck, Germany.
My general field of interest is computational methods for inverse problems arising in medical and geophysical imaging. My research is interdisciplinary in nature and covers a variety of topics ranging from mathematical theory via design of numerical algorithms and efficient computational methods towards solving problems arising in real-world applications. From a mathematical point of view, my work involves variational calculus, numerical solutions of partial differential equations, numerical optimization, sparse linear algebra, multilevel, multiscale and multigrid methods. I am interested in designing efficient implementations using parallel and distributed computing techniques.
